The
Caucasian Chamber
Orchestra In
Summer 2005 the Caucasian Chamber Orchestra was founded by Uwe Berkemer as the
most important peace initiative in the Caucasian region on the cultural sector.
An orchestra which consists not only of the best string players of the Caucasian
republics, forming an aristic ensemble of highest quality, but creates a symbol
of mutual understanding in a region characterized by ethnic and religious
conflicts. In the follow
up of a spectacular article in the New York Times a few month ago, the orchestra
got lot of international requirements. The orchestra which has started with
musicians from Armenia, Dagestan and Geogia has right now an emphasis on winning
members from different Caucasian republics.
Besides the standard repertoire
the Caucasian Chamber Orchestra is mainly promoting the repertoire of Caucasian
composers, including contemporary music.
